Further to our previous news post here, we have further information regarding the situation with the ransomware attack on Synnovis. Synnovis have identified that a portion of the data held by them has been published by a cyber crime group. Synnovis are still unsure exactly what data has been compromised.
The investigation is still ongoing and Synnovis state there is no evidence to suggest patient test details were stolen, however the investigation is complex and will likely extend further into July.
Certain samples, especially those for a full blood count, have had to be discarded due to a lack of capacity and high demand of samples to be tested. We as a GP are currently still only sending patients for urgent tests, and are still not booking any blood tests here with our Nurse or Care-Coordinator. We are respecting the fact that patients who have regular blood tests in relation to specific medication (Thyroxine, Statins, etc) will be unable to do so at this time and we will take this into consideration when issuing repeat prescriptions.
